From Despair To Personal Pride: Sharing Stories, Changing Minds

A 40-year old husband and father living with HIV, Gnanendra has moved from despair at his diagnosis to pride at helping reduce the incidence of HIV infection in his slum.

Gnanendra felt terrible when he learned he was HIV-positive, and his wife’s family wanted her to leave him.

HIV/AIDS - Precautions
With support from our outreach workers, Gnanendra now works with a mobile counseling and testing unit.

He gets a lot of satisfaction from telling his story to motivate people to get HIV tested, and from collecting rice for needy HIV-affected families.

Gnanendra says, “Although she was angry with me at first, my wife now hopes our daughters find a husband like me.”
